Starting procedures
For the start of the marathon you can go and take your place in the start box of the time you are aiming for, just like the pacers. We do not perform checks. Thanks to the fair play of the marathon runners everyone can have a good start.
More information about starting zones will be communicated later.
Supply stations
Information about supply stations will be communicated later.
World Athletics Certified course
The course has been officially measured by World Athletics. Once the measurement certificates are available, they will be published here.
Collection event pack
Race packs will not be sent in advance.
At least one week before the event, all individually registered participants will receive a confirmation email. This email either contains a personalized bib number (for registrations before 21 September) or an e-ticket. With this bib number or e-ticket, race packs can be collected on-site.
Participants registered via a group with group pickup cannot personally pick up their bib numbers and must contact their group leader, who will collect and distribute the bib numbers to the entire group. That person is responsible for collecting and distributing the bib numbers for the entire group.
Collect your T-shirt by presenting your envelope or e-ticket.
Please note: The size chosen on the registration form is purely informative and does not guarantee this size T-shirt will still be available at the time of collection. The earlier you collect your shirt, the higher the chance your preferred size is still available.
How to get there?
Bruges is a compact city. The use of motor vehicles in the historic inner city is not recommended. The Park and Ride areas are situated right outside of the city centre. Here you can park your car for free and for longer duration. The city centre is a stone’s throw away on foot or by bus. All info: www.visitbruges.be/parking-in-bruges-2.
Time limits
Athora Bruges Marathon
The time limit for the Athora Bruges Marathon runners is 6 hours. By order of the police, the roads will be reopened to traffic based on a 6-hour pace. Those running slower will be eliminated from the race but can continue the course at their own risk but must adhere strictly to the traffic rules.
Athora Bruges Half Marathon
By order of the police, the course will be opened for traffic after the last runner, following a tight schedule of 7 minutes per kilometer.
Changing rooms and sports bag drop zone

Storage sports bags
You can choose to hand in your sports bag with the storage area provided.
A sticker with a unique number will be stuck on your bag and you will receive a sticker with the same number to stick on your bib number. After your participation in the event, you can collect your bag again upon presentation of the sticker on your bib number. If you lose your sticker, you will only get your bag back if you can give a precise description of the bag and contents.
The organisation will take the necessary safety precautions to guard this space as best as they can, still, use of the storage area is at your own risk. The organisation cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss and/or theft of personal belongings.
Some recommendations:
- Use a sports bag that can be fully closed and make sure it is all zipped up so that no items can fall out of the sports bag
- Loose items of clothing or plastic bags will not be accepted
- Do not leave any delicate items in your sports bag (e.g., iPhone, sports watch, spectacles, wallet, cash, keys, etc.).

Health
The organising party advises avoiding intense physical activities without being properly prepared. Ensure that you make wise decisions regarding the distance you wish to cover and/or the tempo you want to maintain. Anyone who wants to exercise at a high intensity and with a performance-oriented mindset is advised to undergo a medical check-up with a (sports) doctor annually.
It is not obliged to present medical certificates. It is up to the athlete to decide how to handle the information received during a medical examination. The organizer assumes no responsibility in this regard.
More information about health & sports can be found here.
Visit Bruges
For centuries, the Bruges canals have connected the city to the sea, a guarantee of prosperity and wealth. International merchants built Bruges into one of the largest Hanseatic cities. In the 15th century, the city flourished as never before. The authentic medieval urban fabric was preserved, and large parts of the historical heritage remained virtually intact. It is therefore logical that UNESCO recognised the entire inner city as a World Heritage Site.

Visit Damme
Nestled between wide-open polders and winding canals, Damme is a charming town where history, nature and hospitality blend effortlessly. Once a thriving trade hub connected to the sea, today it offers peace and quiet steeped in rich heritage. With its historic buildings, bookshops and culinary gems, Damme is the perfect spot for a refreshing break during the marathon.
